4、ithseniorleadersoftheGovernmenttheWorldBankGroupsassistancestrategyforChinaafteritsaccessiontotheWTO.1startedmyvisittwodaysagointhewesternprovinceofYunnanandhavenowcometoSichuan.IhaveseengoodexamplesofhowtheWorldBankGrowupcanofferassistancetotheGovernmentandtheprivatesectortodevelopChina’sWest.

5、Thereare11provinces,autonomousregionsandonemunicipalityinwestChina,withatotalareaofabout6.8millionsquarekilometersandapopulationof364million.Thegovernment’sdesiretoacceleratethedevelopmentofthewesternprovincesisvitaltothesuccessofachievingasustainedgrowthforChinainthelongrun.Therearealsochallen
