2、antityorvolumediscounts,asiscommoninbuyingconsortia,andmorerecentlyintheconsumergroupcouponingspace(e.g.,Groupon).Weconsiderageneralmodelofthisprobleminwhichagrouporbuyingconsortiumisfacedwithvolumediscountoffersfrommultiplevendors,butgroupmembershavedistin
3、ctpreferencesfordifferentvendorofferings.Unlikesomerecentformulationsofmatchinggamesthatinvolvequantitydiscounts,thecombinationofvaryingpreferencesanddiscountscanrenderthecoreofthematchinggameempty,inboththetransferableandnontransferableutilitysense.Thus,in
4、steadofcoalitionalstability,weproposeseveralformsofNashstabilityundervariousepistemicandtransfer/paymentassumptions.Weinvestigatethecomputationofbuyer-welfaremaximizingmatchingsandshowtheexistenceoftransfers(subsidizedprices)ofaparticularlydesirableformthat
5、supportstablematchings.Wealsostudyanontransferableutilitymodel,showingthatstablematchingsexist;andwedevelopavariantoftheprobleminwhichbuyersprovideasimplepreferenceorderingover“deals”ratherthanspecificvaluations—amodelthatisespeciallyattractiveintheconsumer
