4、andatugboat.Sincethen,wirelesscommunicationsystemshavebeendevelopingandevolvingwithafuriouspace.Thenumberofmobilesubscribershasbeengrowingtremendouslyinthepastdecades.Intheearlystages,wirelesscommunicationsystemsweredominatedbymilitaryusageandsupportedaccordingtomilit

5、aryneedsandrequirements.Duringthelasthalfacentury,withincreasingcivilapplicationsofmobileservices,commercialwirelesscommunicationsystemshavebeentakingthelead.Theearlywirelesssystemsconsistedofabasestationwithahigh-powertransmitterandservedalargegeographicarea.Eachbase

6、stationcouldserveonlyasmallnumberofusersandwascostlyaswell.ThesystemswereisolatedfromeachotherandonlyafewofthecommunicatedwiththePSTNs(PublicSwitchedTelephoneNetworks).Today,thecellularsystemsconsistofaclusterofba-sestationwithlowpowerradiotransmitters.Eachbasestation

7、s-ervesasmallcellwithinalargegeographicarea.Thetotalnum-berofusersservedisincreasedbecauseofchannelreuseandal-solargerfrequencybandwidth.GlobalsystemformobilecommunicationsistheEuropeanstandardforcellularcommunicationsdevelopedbytheETSI(EuropeanTelecommunicationsStand
