3、natedbymen.Unavoidably,thiskindofphenomenonhasbeenembodiedinEnglishvocabulary.Inlinguisticaspect,languageisabias-basedandwomensufferfromlanguagesexism.Thereareseveraldefinitionsaboutsexism.AccordingtoWebsterNinthNewCollegiateDictionary,itrefersto “prejudiceordiscriminationbasedons
4、ex;esp.discriminationagainstwomen.”1LongmanEnglishDictionarygivesanotherexplanation “baseonsex,esp.manlooksdownuponfemale.”2TheAmericaHeritageDictionaryforLearnersofEnglishgivessuchadefinition “Discriminationbasedonsex,especiallydiscriminationagainstwomen.”3So,basedonthelanguagecu
5、stom, “sexism”alwaysexpressesthatdiscriminationagainstthefemale.Sexismexistsinallthesocialsystemscountries,andasacommonsocialphenomenon,itissurlyreflectedinEnglishvocabulary.ThispaperlistsoutsomeLinguisticfeaturesofsexisminEnglishvocabulary,thereasonsofsexisminEnglishvocabularyand
