3、8-4141CourseObjectives:Theprimaryobjectiveofthiscourseistoprovideyouwiththeabilitytouseandtocommunicatewiththosewhousecertainquantitativeapproachestohelpmakeinformeddecisionsforyourorganizations.AsecondaryobjectiveistoprovideyouwiththequantitativeknowledgeandskillsthatareneededinotherMBAco
4、urses.Thetwogroupsofquantitativetechniquesaredecisionmodelingandstatistics.Theobjectiveofdecisionmodelingistodevelopmathematicalmodelsforavarietyofbusinessdecisionproblems.Applicationsaredrawnfrommanufacturing,transportationanddistribution,marketingandfinance.Becausedecisionproblemsareusua
5、llycomplex,themathematicalmodelsusedtorepresentthemaretypicallyanalyzedandsolvedusingcomputersoftware(spreadsheetadd-onsordedicatedprograms).Attheendofthispartofthecourseyouwillbeableto:1)Developquantitativemodelsforawideclassofbusinessdecisionproblems.2)Usecomputersoftwaretoobtainsolution
6、stothesemodels.3)Analyzethecomputeroutputandinterprettheresultsinthecontextoftheoriginalproblem.Theobjectiveofstatisticsistosummarizeandpresentinformationcontainedindatasets,todrawconclusionsaboutlargepopulationsbasedonlyoninformationobtainedfromsamples,and,usingtheseconclusions,toobtainre
