3、its.Suchaunitsonabasiclevelofmanufacturingshouldbesupportedbysuitableinformationsystems.Thepaperdescribestheideaofthedecentralisedinformationsystembasedonholonicidea.TheresearchcarriedonDepartmentofProductionEngineeringallowedtobuildthemodelofsuchasystem.Thenextstepistob
4、uildtheuniversalcoreofthesystem.IntroductionGrowinginternationalcompetitionmakesitnecessarytoquicklyreacttomarketdemands,increasequalityanddecreasepricesofproducts.Improvementinproductivityandqualityisnecessary.Atthesametimeintheindustrialcountries,theintensityofcapitali
5、nvestmentinproductionhasgrownrapidlyoverthelastyears.Itresultsinmoreefficientandeasiertouse,butalsomorecomplexmanufacturingsystems.Whentoaddtoitthefactthatthenumberofworkinghoursisdecreasingcontinuously,itisobviousthatemployeesdirectlyinvolvedinthemanufacturingprocesspla
6、yamoreimportantrolethaninthepast.Competitivenessofpresentmanufacturingsystemscanbeincreasedmainlybybetterworkorganisation,whichshouldensurehighermotivation,increasecompetencies,andpersonnelstability.Itshouldbesupportedbyasuitableinformationsystemtogetabetterinformationfl
7、ow.However,presentinformationsystemsareexpensiveandnotflexibleenough,especiallyforunitproductionandforsmallcompanies.Asaresult,theyhardlyeverareappliedinmanufacturingunits,exceptinfullyautomatedmanufacturinglinesinmassproduction[5].Isalsoveryimportantthatpresentinformati
