2、beplasteredwithaplastermadewaterproofbytheuseofappropriateadditives,ofwhichtherearemanyonthemarket.Howeversuchaplastermightstillcrack,andcornersandareassuchaswall–floorjoinsareparticularlysusceptibletoleakageproblems.Awaterproofmembranethatcanaccommodatesomemovementisabetteroption.The
3、reareanumberofcommercialproducts;themoreflexibleareun-reinforcedacrylic,polyurethaneandlatexformulations,whichcanprovideahighlyflexiblemembranethatisfullywaterproof.Theseproductsaregenerallydesignedtobeusedundertiles,ratherthanprovidingthewallfinish.Tileadhesives,whichareusuallyacryli
4、c-based,willadherewelltothesemembranes,andthecompositeofaplasteronthestraw,coatedacrossthewholewetareawithsuchawaterproofmembrane,andthenfinishedwithceramicorotherappropriatetiles,shouldproduceafullywaterproofbarrierthatwillaccommodateslightmovementduetoenvironmentalchangethatmightcau
5、senarrowcracksintheunderlyingplaster.Onemightnotwanttotileallofthewetareasectionsofastrawbalewall.Inthatcasethemembranemaybeappliedoverthebasewallplasterand,whenthathascured,itcanbeprimedwithasuitableacrylicprimerthatwillenableafinishingplastertoadhere.Thereisnoguaranteethatthiswillwo
6、rkwithallmembrane/acrylic-primer/plastercombinations.Anotheroptionistosheetthestrawbalewallwithwaterproofpanellingpriortotiling.Inthiscasejoinsinthepanellingandedges/cornersofthepanellingshouldbetreatedwiththetypeofflexiblewaterproofmembranedescribedabove.Thepanellingcanbeinstalledbyf
