4、fficials,Walnut,Calif.Thesecodesaregenerallyrevisedon3-yearcycles.Inadditiontothesemodelcodes,severalcitiesandstateshaveadoptedtheirownplumbingandfirepreventioncodes.The‘‘NationalStandardPlumbingCode,’’administeredbytheNationalAssociationofPlumbing,HeatingandCoolingC
5、on-tractors,Inc.,Washington,D.C.,hasbeenadoptedinsomelocalities.TheAmericanNationalStandardsInstitute(ANSI)hasalsoadoptedthe‘‘NationalPlumbing14.114.2SECTIONFOURTEENCode,’’ANSIA.40.8,whichisadministeredbytheMechanicalContractorsAsso-ciationofAmerica,Rockville,Md.Al
6、so,numerousfire-safetycodesandstandardsarecontainedin‘‘NationalFireCodes,’’NationalFireProtectionAssociation,Quincy,Mass.Personsinvolvedinthedesignandinstallationofplumbingsystemsshouldcheckwithalllocalcodeauthoritiestodeterminewhichcodeisineffectpriortobeginningapr
7、oject.Also,localgovernmentalauthoritiesshouldbecontactedaboutspecialregulationsrelatingtosewerandwatersystems.Thoseinvolvedinthede-signofplumbingsystemsshouldalsobefamiliarwithANSIA117.1andtheAmer-icanswithDisabilitiesAct(ADA),whichrequirethatprovisionbemadeinbuild
