5、fourbooksamples:best-sellingbooksfeaturingfemaleprotagonists,best-sellingbooksfeaturingmaleprotagonists,multiculturalbooksfeaturingfemaleprotagonists,andmulticulturalbooksfeaturingmaleprotagonists.Atotalof112bookswerequalitativelyanalyzedviaconventionalcontentanalysisandmultimoda

6、ldiscourseanalysistoinvestigatehowthebooknarrativesandillustrationsdepictedembodiedexperiencesformaleandfemalecharacters.Twocore-categoriesemerged.ThefirstidentifiedObservedNormsandIdealsofGenderthroughouttheanalyzedbooks,specificallywithinthedomainsofBehaviour,Appearance,andAbil

7、ity.Thesecondcore-categorydelineateddiscoursesthatpertainedtoFamilyRelationalProcesses.Quantitativecontentanalysiswasthenusedtoassessforsignificantdifferencesinthematicoccurrencesacrossthefoursamples.Overall,quantitativeresultsdemonstratedthatappearance-basednormsoccurredmostfreq
