2、h.Thisarticleexploreshowanorganisationcandealwiththeserapidchangesbylookingathowtheorganisationhandledchangesinthepast.ThisstudyusestheContextuallyBasedHumanResourceTheorybyPaauwe(1994)todoaforcefieldanalysisofINGwithintheNetherlands,oneofthelargestfinancialinstitut
3、ionsworldwide.TwocontextualdimensionsandanorganisationsadministrativeheritagerelatetostrategicchoicesmadeaboutHRMwithinthefirm.DevelopmentsinHRliterature,andtheinfluenceofthesedevelopmentsontheHRfunctionwithinINGintheNetherlands,arealsostudied.Dataarecollectedthroug
4、haliteraturestudy,documentanalysisand18interviews.ItcanbeconcludedthatitisimportantforINGtocreateahistoricalawareness.Bylearningfromeventshappenedinthepast,organisationscancreateaninstitutionalmemory,whichtheycanusetohandleissuesinthefuture.Weliveinaworldinwhichwear
5、econstantlyconfrontedwithchange.Companiestodayneedtobefastgrowing,efficient,profitable,flexible,adaptableetc.becausewithoutthesequalitiesitisvirtuallyimpossibletobecompetitiveintoday’sglobaleconomy(Schuler&Jackson,2001).Organisationsoperateinanenvironmentthatisdynam
6、icandinwhichincreasedcompetition,globalization,newlegislation,socialanddemographicdevelopmentsandunioninfluencearejustafewexamplesofchangesthattheorganisationhastodealwith.Onewayofdealingwiththeserapidchangesislookingathowtheorganisationhandledchangesinthepast.“Then
