2、-qualityproductswithreproducibleresultsacrossmanygenerationsofaproductfamily.Thissystematicapproachhasledtoindividualproductsbeingcharacterizedashavingalifecyclewiththefollowingphases:survey,design,build,qualityassurance(QA),sell,support,and,ultimately,endoflife.Durin
3、gaproductlifecycle,agreatdealofbusinessinformationrelatedtotheproductisgenerated,frommeetingnotesandmarketingrequirementstocomputer-aideddesign(CAD)drawings,testresults,repairinstructions,andsalesreports.Becauseofitsinherentworth,organizationsseektoderivethemaximumbus
4、inessvaluefromthiscontent.ThiswhitepapersummarizeshowmanufacturingcompanieshavesuccessfullyleveragedOraclecontentmanagementtechnologywithintheproductlifecycletohelpachievethisgoal.PEOPLEANDPROCESSESINPRODUCTLIFECYCLEMANAGEMENTTheproductlifecycleisnecessarilycyclic.Tha
5、tis,onceaproducthasbeendevelopedandsold,thefeedbackfromthemarketplacedrivesthenextproductreview/designprocess.Infact,theseprocessesoverlap,inthatthenext-generationproductswillbedevelopedconcurrentlywiththemanufactureandsaleofthecurrent-generationproducts.Fromacontentp
6、erspective,thismeansthatallparticipantsintheproductlifecyclemustprovideaccesstotheirowncontent,andalsoaccesstothecontentofotherrelatedproducts.Contentreuseisalsoanimportantrequirementinaproductlifecycle.Subsequentstepsinaproductlifecyclemustrefertoand,preferably,reuse
