3、ularreplicationandithasbeenpostulatedthattheymayontheirownfunctionasagentsofdisease.CoronavirusDIRNAsappeartoarisebyinternaldeletions(throughnonhomologousrecombinationevents)onthevirusgenomeoronDIRNAsoflargersizebyapolymerasestrand-switching(copy-choice)mechanism.Inadditiontotheiruseinthestudyofv
4、irusRNAreplicationandvirusassembly,coronavirusDIRNAsarebeingusedinamajorwaytostudythemechanismofahigh-frequency,site-specificRNArecombinationeventthatleadstoleaderacquisitionduringvirusreplication(i.e.,theleaderfusioneventthatoccursduringsynthesisofsubgenomicmRNAs,andtheleader-switchingeventthatca
