4、etheyhadchildren,butnowabout40%ofchildreninBritainareborntounmarried(cohabiting)parents.In2000,aroundaquarterofunmarriedpeoplebetweentheagesof16and59werecohabitinginGreatBritain.Cohabitingcouplesarealsostartingfamilieswithoutfirstbeingmarried.Before1960thiswasveryunusu
5、al,butin2001around23percentofbirthsintheUKweretocohabitingcouples.Peoplearegenerallygettingmarriedatalateragenowandmanywomendonotwanttohavechildrenimmediately.Theyprefertoconcentrateontheirjobsandputoffhavingababyuntillatethirties.Thenumberofsingle-parentfamiliesisincr
