4、oducedintotheWestSiberiaconditions.Therewasdistinguishedaformwithamodifiedstructureoftherootagewhichformslongshootswithleaderbudsandrapidlycolonizessoil,thusformingacontinuousandflat(withouttussocks)plantationofmiscanthus.Itisshownthatusingusualagrotechnol
5、ogies,itispossibletoobtain10-15tonsofdrybiomassofhighqualitycellulose(about40%)perha/year.1.INTRODUCTIONAtpresent,onlytwosourcesofcellulose:cottonandwoodbiomassareofindustrialimportance.Cottonrepresentsalmostpurecelluloseanddoesnotrequireacomplicatedproces
6、sing.Woodmasscontains40-44%ofcellulose[1].Plantswithrelativelyalowcontentoflignin,inwhichthemainmassofstructuralelementsrepresentscellulose,canbeusedasanalternativecellulosicbiomass.Introductionofplantsspeciesintotheculture,yieldingahighharvestofbiomasswit
7、hahighcontentofcellulose,cultivatedbyconventionalagriculturalmethodscanbequiteapromisingwaytoinvolvethenewsourcesofhighqualitycelluloseforthemultipurposeuse.Theresearchintoevaluationofplantswithhighcontentofcelluloseaspromisingrawsourcesforchemicalindustry
8、andpowerproductioniscarriedoutintheworld[2].IntheInteractiveEuropeanNetworkforIndustrialCropsandtheirApplication(IENICA)thereisinformationaboutmorethan90kindsandspeciesofpromisingplantsthatarestudiedasrawmate
