1、AutomatedAssemblyModellingforPlasticInjectionMouldsAninjectionmouldisamechanicalassemblythatconsistsofproduct-dependentpartsandproduct-independentparts.Thispaperaddressesthetwokeyissuesofassemblymodellingforinjectionmoulds,namely,representinganinjectionmouldassemblyinacomputeranddeterminingtheposi

2、tionandorientationofaproduct-independentpartinanassembly.Afeature-basedandobject-orientedrepresentationisproposedtorepresentthehierarchicalassemblyofinjectionmoulds.Thisrepresentationrequiresandpermitsadesignertothinkbeyondthemereshapeofapartandstateexplicitlywhatportionsofapartareimportantandwhy.

3、Thus,itprovidesanopportunityfordesignerstodesignforassembly(DFA).Asimplifiedsymbolicgeometricapproachisalsopresentedtoinfertheconfigurationsofassemblyobjectsinanassemblyaccordingtothematingconditions.Basedontheproposedrepresentationandthesimplifiedsymbolicgeometricapproach,automaticassemblymodelli
