3、elations.(1)ThethenumberofspeakersByfarthemostwidelyspokenandfastestspreadingworldlanguagetodayisEnglish,whichhasover840millionprimaryandsecondaryusersworldwide.Today,Englishisthesecondorthirdmostpopularmothertongueintheworld,withanestimated350-400millionnativespeakers.But,crucial
4、ly,itisalsothecommontongueformanynon-Englishspeakerstheworldover,andalmostaquarteroftheglobepopulation,maybe1-2billionpeoplecanunderstanditandhaveatleastsomebasiccompetenceinitsuse,whetherwrittenorspoken.ThefollowingisalistofEnglish-speakingpopulationbycountry,includinginformation
