4、ross-layerinter-actionfromthephysicaltotransportlayerinwirelessnetworkarchitec-turesincludingcellular,ad-hocandsensornetworksaswellashybridwireless-wireline.Themodelallowsforarbitrarynetworktopologiesaswellastrafficforwardingmodes,includingdatagramsandv
5、irtualcir-cuits.Furthermorethetimevaryingnatureofawirelessnetwork,dueeithertofadingchannelsortochangingconnectivityduetomobility,isadequatelycapturedinourmodeltoallowforstatedependentnetworkcontrolpolicies.Quantitativeperformancemeasuresthatcapturethe
6、qualityofservicerequirementsinthesesystemsdependingonthesup-portedapplicationsarediscussed,includingthroughputmaximization,energyconsumptionminimization,rateutilityfunctionmaximizationaswellasgeneralperformancefunctionals.Cross-layercontrolalgo-rithms
