3、Dwasdesignedtobeusedina200-mm-diameterborehole.Drivenbyahighstresspressuremeterandahydraulicpiston,theBTDcanbeusedtoperformaboreholejackingtest,plate-loadingtest,andboreholesheartestinthesameborehole.AmultistagetestingprocedurewasproposedtoperformtheBTDtest.Thi

6、sdescribedincoveringthosematerialsthatcouldbedescribedashardclays,ex-Fig.1,withatotalheightof1900mm.Itwasdesignedtoperformtremelyweakrock,veryweakrock,andweakrock.Tatsuokaandtestsina200-mm-diameterborehole.ThetopcompartmentcouldKohata(1995)havepresentedtestdata

7、anddemonstratedthatfieldbeexpandedlaterallyagainsttheboreholewallandperformabore-coringcancausesignificantdisturbancetosoftrocksamplesandholejackingtest.Thislateralexpansionjammedthetopcompart-resultinlowstiffnessmeasurements.Forfoundationsinsoftrock,mentagains
