3、ss;forexampleanATCcannotpredictwhenasituationbecomescriticalandheisnotabletoregulatetheworkload.Inordertoassesspsychophysiologicalstressreactionsinthisworkingsituation,salivasamplesweretakenfrom158maleairtrafficcontrollersbeforeandaftereachoftwoworkingsessions.Inco

4、ntrasttotheexpectedimmunosuppressiveeffects,theworkingsessionscausedamarkedincreaseintheconcentrationandsecretionrateofsalivaryimmunoglobulinA(sIgA),aswellasintheconcentrationofsalivarycortisol.TheincreaseinsIgA,however,wasnotcorrelatedwiththesalivarycortisolrespon

5、seorwiththeamountofactualorperceivedworkload,whereasthecortisolresponsewascorrelatedwithbothworkloadmeasures.ItissuggestedthatpositiveemotionalengagementisresponsiblefortheobservedsIgAincreaseandthatmeasuringthisphysiologicalresponsemaybeavaluabletoolfordifferentia
