3、ionaltrial-and-errormethods.Actuallynewpowersourcesandactuatortechnologiesoffermanymoreimplementa-tionchoices,andleadtoanextremecombinatorialcomplexity.There-fore,traditionaldesignprocesseshavetobeassistedwithautomaticoptimization.Thispaperintroducesaflight-controlarchitectureop
4、ti-mizationprocess,intendedasadecisionaidforsystemengineersatearlystagesoftheflight-controlarchitecturedefinition.Wepresentanopti-mizationmodelforthedesignprocess,basedonasafetyconstraintandaweightcriterion.WestartbyreducingtheinitialsearchdomainbyintroducingthenotionofSurfacepo
5、ssiblearchitecture.Surfacepossiblearchitecturesaresubsetsoftheinitialsearchdomainwitchareconstructedbytakingintoaccounttechnologicalconstraintsandempiricalpractices.Theseabovesubsetsaregeneratedoutsidetheoptimizationloops.Oncethesearchhasbeenreduced,weuseanadaptationofbranch-a
