3、ypesofribosomalsubunits(largeandsmall)whicharethentransportedoutoftheNuclearPoresseparately.Theporesdonotaccommodatetheassembledribosomes,therefore,theycannotreenter.ThismeansthattranslationofRNAandsynthesisofproteinsmustoccuroutsidethenucleolus.FormoreinformationfollowthelinktoribosomesAfterther

4、ibosomalsubunitsareinthecytoplasm,theyareconnectedandthen,theymayattachtoendoplasmicreticulum.Theyprovideanattachmentand"codereading"siteforthemessengerRNA.Iftheyattachtoroughendoplasmicreticulum,theyformaporethatmovesthenewlysynthesizedproteinsintothecisternaoftheroughendoplasmicreticulum.Theabo

5、vefigureshowsanotherelectronmicrographofanucleoluswiththe7nuclearorganizingregion,theparsfibrosaandtheparsgranulosa.Nucleoliincreaseinnumberandenlargewhenthecellisstimulatedtoproduceproteins.Thisisasignthatthecellhasbeenstimulatedorisactivelyinvolvedinproteinsynthesis.Nucleolidisappearduringcelld

6、ivisionandthenreformatthechromosomalnucleolarorganizingcenters.OnecanstudysynthesisofribosomalRNAwiththeelectronmicroscope.Apreparationofnucleoliisdissociatedandspreadonaliquidsurface(inamannersimilartothespreadingofchromatin).Then,thesynthesisofribosomalRNAisstimulatedandafteraperiodoftime,theDN
