2、esearcharenaistheanti-collisionmethodologyforRFIDtransponders.ThequalityofchannelmultiplexingmethodsusedinsolvingthiscollisionproblemwilldirectlydeterminetheefficiencyofthewholeRFIDsystem.ThisthesisfirstexplainsthebasicstructureandfunctionalityofatypicalR
3、FIDsystem,andevaluatesanumberofclassicanti-collisionalgorithmsbasedontime-divisionmulti-access(TDMA)methods,whichfallintomainlytwocategories,i.e.,randomapproachesbasedonALOHAanddeterministicapproachesbasedontree.Furthermore,thisthesisevaluatesindetailthep
4、erformancesoftwowell-knownalgorithmswhichhaveleadingpositionsintheirrespectivecategory,andpointsouttheinherentdrawbacksofboth.Withalloftheaboveexplanationsandevaluations,thisthesisproposesahybridanti-collisionalgorithmwhichcombinesboththerandomanddetermin
5、isticapproaches,andtheoreticallyconfirmsthesuperiorityofthishybridalgorithm.Inaddition,resultsofmanyroundsofsimulationsarepresentedtodemonstratethatthehybridalgorithmoutperformsexistingonesintermsofthroughput,memoryconsumption,totaltransmittedbitsaswellas
6、othermetrics.Finally,thisthesisoffersaVLSIreferencedesignbasedonthehybridanti-collisionalgorithm.Sincethecomputationintensityandmemoryrequirementarewellcontrolledinthisalgorithm,thisVLSIdesigncanbeeasilyimplementedinordinarygeneralpurposeprogrammabledevic
