2、and.ByDecember2012,allofthe£1mhadbeenspentoneligibleadaptationsthroughouttheCounty.Disabledadaptationsarecarriedouttoeligible(usuallyvulnerable,lowincome)householdstoenabletherecipienttoremainsafelyintheirownhome.Thismaypreventthemhavingtoaccessmoreexpensiveservices,fore

3、xamplehospitalorcareservices.Theseadaptationsareusuallyreferredtoasdisabledfacilitiesgrants(DFGs).Theadaptationscanalsobepreventative,forexampleinstallingastairliftforanelderlypersonmaypreventafall.ThemostcommontypesofadaptationsinLeicestershirearelevelaccessshowers(LAS)

4、and/orstairlifts,bothofwhichcanhelptopreventfalls.2.TheBenefitsofanAdaptationforaRecipientItwasagreedthattheLeicestershire&RutlandAuthoritieswouldgatherinformationfrompeoplewhohadreceivedanadaptationinordertoassessthebenefitstothewiderhealthandsocialcarecommunityofthePCT

5、contributingtotheadaptationfund.Researchhasestablishedthatin2000theUniversityofYorkproducedareportonTheEconomicCostofHipFractureintheUK.Itconcludedthatthecostofanindividualhipfractureatthattimewascalculatedtobe£25,424.(Appendix1).InadditionOfficersareawareofthepositivefe

6、edbackreceivedfromgratefulrecipientsofgrantfunding.Inordertogetongoinginformationaroundthebenefitsofinvestmentinhousingadaptationsitwasdecidedtoaskalladaptationrecipientsin2012,tocompleteanevaluationfrom.TheinformationinthisreportisbasedonadaptationsdonebetweenAprilandDe

7、cember2012andconsiderswhethertheadaptationimprovedtheir;·qualityoflife·qualityofhealth·independence·levelofcomfortand13·wellbeing.ApostalsurveywascarriedoutinallbutHinckleyandBosworth,whousedatelephonesurveytoobtainresults.Inadditioncustomerswereaskedtosayiftheadaptation
