4、alotofscholars，however，Chinesescholarshavemainlyfocusedonthegrammaticalizationaspect．Somemayhaveanalyzedtheinfluencesofsemanticchangeongrammaticalization，buttheyseldomfindacomparativelysystematicinterpretationof／aofromasemanticcognitiveperspective．Basedonthetheoriesincognitiv

5、elinguistics，namely,theprototypetheory,conceptualmetaphortheoryandconceptualmetonymytheory,thisthesisfocusesonthesensesof／aothroughbothdiachronicandsynchronicanalysiswiththecollecteddatafromdictionaries，booksandcorpus．Throughthecomparativelysystematicandcomprehensiveinvestiga
