2、ntUnfortunately,currentimplementationsofBitTorrentignoreignoretrafficcostsatISPsandgeneratealargeamountofcross-theunderlyingInternettopologyorISPlinkcosts,andsetupISPtraffic.Asaresult,ISPsoftenthrottleBitTorrenttrafficdatatransfersamongrandomlychosensetsofpeersdistributeda
3、sawaytocontrolthecost.Inthispaper,weexamineanewaroundtheInternet.Asaresult,theygenerateasignificantapproachtoenhanceBitTorrenttrafficlocality,biasedneighborselection,inwhichapeerchoosesthemajority,butnotall,ofitsamountofcross-ISPtrafficandincreasetheoperatingcostofneighbor
4、sfrompeerswithinthesameISP.Usingsimulations,weanISPsignificantly.showthatbiasedneighborselectionmaintainsthenearlyoptimalThemethodmostoftendeployedbyISPstocontrolBit-performanceofBitTorrentinavarietyofenvironments,andTorrenttrafficis“throttling”,orbandwidthlimiting.Sincef
5、undamentallyreducesthecross-ISPtrafficbystoppingitfromBitTorrenttraffictypicallyrunsoverafixedrangeofportsgrowinglinearlywiththenumberofpeers.Akeyreasonforitsperformanceistherarestfirstpiecereplicationalgorithm(6881to6889)[Coh05]andusesformatseasytodecode,usedbyBitTorrentcl
6、ients.Comparedwithexistinglocality-trafficshapingdevicessuchas[Pac],[Inc],[PC],[San]areenhancingapproachessuchasbandwidthlimiting,gatewaypeers,deployedtolimittheamountofbandwidthconsumedbytheandcaching,biasedneighborselectionrequiresnodedicatedBitTorrentprotocol.However,
7、themaineffectofthrottlingisserversandscalestoalargenumberofBitTorrentnetworks.toslowdownthecontenttransfer.ItdoesnotaddresstheFurthermore,itcanbecombinedwithbandwidthlimitingandcachingtoimprovetheirperformancefurther.fundamentalconcernoftheISP,whichistoimprovethelocalit
