3、hosenasrepresentativeofthevolatileorganiccompounds(VOC),inmildconditionbyevaluatingtheautoignitiontimeandthesteadystateattainment.TheseparametersareimportantinthedesignofthermalVOCdestructionplantssincetheyinfluencetheabatementefficiencyand,therefore,theplantdimension.Ithascomeoutthat,in
4、comparisonwiththesystemdilutedinnitrogen,steaminduceslowerautoignitiontimesand,ontheotherhand,longertimesfortheattainmentofthesteadystate.Incontrast,forveryhighwatercontenttheautoignitiontimeslightlyincreases.Inparticularresultshaveshownthatispossibletoidentifyanoptimumvalueofsteamcon
5、tentthatallowsfortheattainmentofthesteadystateconditionbythelowestresidencetime.Hydrogenadditiontosystemsdilutedinnitrogenpromotestheoxidationreactionsandanticipatesthesteadystatecondition.Insteamdilutedsystemshydrogendelaystheautoignitionofthemixtureseventhoughanticipatestheattainmen
