3、Technology,HongKong)AbstractWiththeemphasisoneffectivesafeguardingofthenationalmarinerightsandinterests,theupsurgeinmarineeconomicdevelopmentandthesignificantprogressinwirelesssensornetworks,underwatersensornetworkshavebecomeanewhotresearcharea.Underwat
4、ersensornetworksaredeployedtoperformcollaborativetaskssuchasoceanographicdatacollection,pollutionmonitoring,offshoreexploration,disasterprevention,assistednavigation,andtacticalsurveillance.Underwatersensornetworksuseacousticsignalstocommunicatewitheach
5、other,thusthepropagationdelayislargeduetotheslowacousticsignalpropagationspeed.Underwateracousticcommunicationchannelhaslimitedbandwidthcapacitybecauseofthesignificantfrequencyanddistancedependentattenuation.Theharshunderwaterchannelalsohashighbiterrorr
6、ates.Thus,somenewalgorithmsneeddesigningforunderwatersensornetworks.Anoverviewofunderwaterwirelesscommunicationtechnologies,thedesignofcommunicationhardware,theunderwaternetworkarchitectureandthecharacteristicsofunderwatercommunicationchannelsareintrodu
