4、terests,theupsurgeinmarineeconomicdevelopmentandthesignificantprogressinwirelesssensornetworks,underwatersensornetworkshavebecomeanewhotresearcharea.Underwatersensornetworksaredeployedtoperformcollaborativetaskssuchasoceanographicdatacollection,pollutionmonitoring,offshoreexploration,disasterp
5、revention,assistednavigation,andtacticalsurveillance.Underwatersensornetworksuseacousticsignalstocommunicatewitheachother,thusthepropagationdelayislargeduetotheslowacousticsignalpropagationspeed.Underwateracousticcommunicationchannelhaslimitedbandwidthcapacitybecauseofthesignificantfrequencyan
6、ddistancedependentattenuation.Theharshunderwaterchannelalsohashighbiterrorrates.Thus,somenewalgorithmsneeddesigningforunderwatersensornetworks.Anoverviewofunderwaterwirelesscommunicationtechnologies,thedesignofcommunicationhardware,theunderwaternetwork.architectureandthecharacteristicsofunderw
