5、rentmath-ematicalentitiessuchasmatrices,quaternions,dualvectorsanddualquaternions[1,2].Inthispapertheuseofdualquaternionsforthedescriptionofscrewdisplacementswillbediscussedwithanapplicationtohumanmotionanalysis.Themathematicaldefinitionofrelativemotio
6、nbetweenhumanbodysegmentsisacomplextask.Thisisduetothepeculiarshapeofthekinematicelementsformingcartilagineousandsynovialjoints.Forthisreason,inthedevelopmentofmathematicalmodels,acommonap-proachisthereplacementofsuchjointswiththosewhosemodelingissimp
7、lified.Forinstance,thekneejointisusuallysubstitutedbyanhingejoint,asshowninFigure1.1Figure1:Kinematicmodelingofaknee-jointThisinvestigationhasthepurposetoexploretheuseofrigidbodymotioninterpolationmethodsforthemathematicalmodelingofelbowjoints.Inpartic
