2、lopmentsinphysicssuchasthestudyofquantumchaos.Developmentsinphysicsthroughoutthelastfourdecades,oftenequallyapplicabletobothquantumandlinearacousticproblemsbutoverwhelminglymoreoftenexpressedinthelanguageoftheformer,haveexploredthis.Thereisasignificantnewamountoftheorythatcanbeusedtoaddressprob
3、lemsinlinearacousticsandvibration,butonlyasmallamountofreportedworkdoesso.Thisbookisanattempttobridgethegapbe-tweentheoreticiansandpractitioners,aswellasthegapbetweenquantumandacoustic.Tutorialchaptersprovideintroductionstoeachofthemajoraspectsofthephysicaltheoryandarewrittenusingtheappropriat
4、etermi-nologyoftheacousticalcommunity.Thebookwillactasaquick-startguidetothenewmethodswhileprovidingawide-rangingintroductiontothephys-icalconcepts.MatthewWrightisaseniorlecturerinAcousticsattheInstituteofSoundandVibrationResearch(ISVR).HisB.Eng.wasinengineeringacousticsandvibration,andhisPh.D
