4、ovetheirschools.detailedpictureofeachschoolthatisnoteasilyavail-ableelsewhere.TheReportCardaidsschoolimprovementCertainly,theactofpubliclyratingandrankingschoolsattractsattention.Schoolsthatperformwellorshowconsistentimprovementareapplauded.Theresultsofpoorly209performingschoolsandthosewho

5、seperformanceisdeterioratinggeneratecon-cern.Thisattention,initself,providesanincentiveforallthoseconnectedwithaschooltoredoubletheireffortstoimprovestudentresults.However,theReportCardoffersmorethanjustincentive:itincludesavarietyofindicators,eachofwhichreportsresultsforanaspectofschoolpe

6、rformancethatmightbeimproved.SchooladministratorswhoarededicatedtoimprovementaccepttheReportCardasanothersourceofevidencethattheirschoolscandoabetterjob.TheReportCardhelpsparentschooseWhereparentscanchooseamongseveralschoolsfortheirchildren,theReportCardprovidesavalu-abletoolformakingadeci
