3、ceandhasnotyetbeenabletotellushowtodesignfurnacesthatwillcorrespondtothepresentlevelofknowledgeandtechnology.Whatisthefundamentalprinciplewhich,inouropinion,mustformthebasisofthedesignofperfecttankfurnaces,Itwillbeobviousthatbya＂perfecttankfurnace＂wemea

4、nonethatisasefficientaspossibleintechnicalandeconomicrespects.Thedesignofatankfurnacemustbesuchthatthemeltedglasspassedtothemachinesinstrictsequence.Forexample,ifthecapacityofthefurnacesis1000tonsofglassandthemachinesonlyaftertendays.Weconsiderthattheti

5、mehascomewhenitshouldbepossibletoarriveatawellgroundedconclusionconcerningthedistributionofcurrentsofglassintankfurnacesandtodesignafurnaceaccordingly,sothatourbasicprincipleofthestrictsequenceofthemeltedglasstothemachinescanberealized.Itisessentialtoel

6、iminateundesirablecurrentsofglassandtheformationoflayersdifferingincomposition,i.e.tokeepthekineticsofglasswithinlimitssetbythespecialdesignofthetankfurnace,bytheheatingscheduleadopted,andpossiblybythemechanicalactionexertedionthemeltedglass.Ourproposed

7、designforsuchafurnaceisrepresentedinfigures1-6.Wedonotconsiderthattheproblemofconstructingaglasstankfurnaceofourdesignismoredifficultthanmanyothersproblemsalreadysolvedbyscienceandtechnology.Thesolutionofthisproblemiswithinthepowerofourplanninganderecti
