4、sformers.Thecurrentflowinginthecoilconnectedtotheacsourceiscalledtheprimarywindingorsimplytheprimary.Itsetsupthefluxφinthecore,whichvariesperiodicallybothinmagnitudeanddirection.Thefluxlinksthesecondcoil,calledthesecondarywindingorsimplysecondary.Thefluxischanging;therefore,itinducesavoltageinthese

5、condarybyelectromagneticinductioninaccordancewithLenz’slaw.Thustheprimaryreceivesitspowerfromthesourcewhilethesecondarysuppliesthispowertotheload.Thisactionisknownastransformeraction.3.TRANSFORMERPRINCIPLESWhenasinusoidalvoltageVpisappliedtotheprimarywiththesecondaryopen-circuited,therewillbenoener

6、gytransfer.TheimpressedvoltagecausesasmallcurrentIθtoflowintheprimarywinding.Thisno-loadcurrenthastwofunctions:(1)itproducesthemagneticfluxinthecore,whichvariessinusoidallybetweenzeroandφm,whereφmisthemaximumvalueofthecoreflux;and(2)itprovidesacomponenttoaccountforthehysteresisandeddycurrentlossesi
