3、yintended,viz.anIndiantown,calledWenimesset,norwardofQuabaug....Isatmuchalonewithapoorwoundedchildinmylap,whichmoanednightandday,havingnothingtorevivethebody,orcheerthespiritsofher,butinsteadofthat,sometimesoneIndianwouldcomeandtellmeonehour,thatyourmasterwillknockyour
4、childinthehead,andthenasecond,andthenathird,yourmasterwillquicklyknockyourchildinthehead. ThiswasthecomfortIhadfromthem,miserablecomfortersareyeall,ashesaid.ThusninedaysIsatuponmyknees,withmybabeinmylap,tillmyfleshwasrawagain;mychildbeingevenreadytodepartthissorrowfulw
5、orld,theybademecarryitouttoanotherwigwam(Isupposebecausetheywouldnotbetroubledwithsuchspectacles)whitherIwentwithaveryheavyheart,anddownIsatwiththepictureofdeathinmylap.Abouttwohoursinthenight,mysweetbabelikealambdepartedthislife,onFebruary18,1675.Itbeingaboutsixyearsa
6、ndfivemonthsold.Itwasninedaysfromthefirstwounding,inthismiserablecondition,withoutanyrefreshingofonenatureoranother,exceptalittlecoldwater.Icannotbuttakenotice,howatanothertimeIcouldnotbeartobeintheroomwhereanydeadpersonwas,butnowthecaseischanged;Imustandcouldliedownby
