4、s’laterviewsonsocialreforminacountryandhiscompassionforthelowerclass,especiallythechildren.Dickens'scareerasawriteroffictionstartedin1833whenhisshortstoriesandessaysappearedinperiodicals.HisSketchesByBozandThePickwickPaperswerepublishedin1836.Inthesameyearhemarriedtheda

5、ughterofhisfriendGeorgeHogarth,CatherineHogarth.ThePickwickPaperswerestoriesaboutagroupofratheroddindividualsandtheirtravelstoIpswich,Rochester,Bathandelsewhere.Dickens'snovelsfirstappearedinmonthlyinstallments,includingOliverTwist(1837-39),whichdepictstheLondonunderwor
