2、temsastheAmplidyne^Regulex^ndRototroLwhichimprovedperformancetocon-trolthegeneratoroutput.lnthepast30years,however,changehasprogressedfrommagnetictechnologytoanalogcontrol.Analogexcitationrepresentedthemultiplecomponentmoduleas-semblywithinterloopingwireinter
3、connections(seeFig.1).Today,weseeanothermajortechnologychange,amovementawayfromanalogcontroltodigitalcontrol.Anexcitationsystemisnowreducedtoasingleintegratedassemblythatincludestheauto-maticvoltageregulator(AVR),fieldcurrentregula-tor(manualcontrol),excitati
4、onlimiters,andevenprotection[3]-[6].Reliabilityisenhancedasmulti-pledevicesareimplementedintothesinglecompo-nentwithmultitaskingmicroprocessors.Fig.2highlightsaclassicdigitalexcitationsysteminter-connectedinageneratorsystem.Asinglecomponentformstheprimaryelem
5、entoftheexcitationsystem.lnputsincludetheinstru-menttransformerforvoltagesensing,currenttransformersignalfromalineCT,andbusvoltagetransformerusedforvoltagematching.Theoutputofthecontrollerisananalogsignaldesignedtoworkdirectlyintoaseparatefiringcircuitthatgen
