2、lcatalystshavebeeninvestigatedinthecatalyticwetoxidation(CWO)ofphenolicwastewater.However,theadsorptionoforganiccompoundsonmanganeseoxidesurfaces,whichplaysanimportantroleinelectrontransferandoxygenreduction,hasnotfullybeenexplored.Phenolhasattractedmoreattentioninwastewatertreatmentb
3、ecauseofitstoxicityandwideoccurrenceinwastewater.Severalconversionprocesses,currentlyunderdevelopmentfortheproductionofsyntheticfuelfromcoal,dischargesubstantialamountsofphenol(0.2-0.5g/L).Moreover,phenolistakenasamodelcompoundforthestudyofadsorptionandoxidationbecausephenolisaninterm
4、ediateproductintheoxidationofhigher-molecular-weightaromaticcompoundsandphenolalsoconvertstoaseriesofintermediatesonoxidation.Cryptomelane-typemanganeseoxideisanoctahedralmolecularsieve(OMS)composedof2x2edge-sharedMn06octahedralchains,whicharecornersharedtoformonedimensionaltunnels.Po
5、tassiumionsandwaterarelocatedinthetunnels(designatedK-OMS-2).Mixed-valentmanganeseions(Mn2+andMn3+)aresituatedintheoctahedralsitesofcryptomelane.Transitionmetalionscanbeincorporatedintotheframeworkortunnelsites.SizesandchargesofMdeterminewhichsitesareoccupied.Thesyntheticcounterpartof
6、metaliondopedcryptomelaneisknownasoctahedralmolecularsieveM-K-OMS-2(Mdopedmetalions).Inrecentyears,someworkhasbeenpublishedonthesynthesesofcryptomelane-typemanganeseoxidesandtheirapplicationsintheoxidationofbenzene,carbonmonoxide,andotherhydrocarbons.K-OMS-2wasfoundtopossessexcellenth
