1、StudyofWeb-basedAutonomousLearninginCollegeEnglishAbstractWiththeintroductionofthetheoryofautonomyintolanguagelearning,researchonhowtocreatelearningenvironmentsforautonomouslearninghasproliferated.Theadventofweb-basedinstructioninthe1990shasbeenseenasanalternativetothis.Althoug

2、hmanyresearchershavesuggestedtheimportanceofautonomyinlanguagelearning,afewstudieshavesystematicallyinvestigatedstudents’autonomyinlanguagelearningintheweb-basedlearningenvironment.Thispaperintroducesanexperimentalstudyonahybridofweb-basedautonomouslearningandconventionalclassr

3、oominstructionfromFebruary2009tillnow.Thestatisticalresultseemstosuggestthattheintroductionofweb-basedautonomouslearningintoCollegeEnglishcoursemakesarealdifference.Analysisanddiscussionhavebeendonebasedonfourquestionnairesandthesubjects’performancesoffourtests.Theresultsshowth

4、atmoststudentsholdapositiveattitudetowardsthenewmode.Thesurveyintostudents’webresourceconsumptionhabitsrevealsthatthereisaconsistenttendencybetweenstudents’frequently-usedresourcesandstudents’choiceofhelpfulresources.Whilenoconsistencyisfoundbetweenstudents’frequently-usedresou

5、rcesandtheresourcestheyconsiderbeinginteresting.Itisalsorevealedthatthestudentsinexperimentalgrouptendtoemploylearningstrategiesmorefrequently.Wealsofindthatweb-basedautonomouslearningcanbringverysignificantefficacytopromotestudents’performanceintheinitialphase.Consequently,wec

6、antentativelydrawtheconclusionthenewmodehassomeadvantagesovertheconventionaloneinCollegeEnglishteachingandlearning.Itisfeasibleifthetechnologicalbarriersareremovedandconditionspermit.Web-basedautonomouslearningmayplayanimportantroleinthefutureCollegeEnglishteachingandevenintheE
