5、ement,graphicequalisersinhi-fisystems,andmanyotherareas.Therearewell-establishedstandardtechniquesfordesigning9ananalogfiltercircuitforagivenrequirement.Atallstages,thesignalbeingfilteredisanelectricalvoltageorcurrentwhichisthedirectanalogueofthephysicalquantity(e.g.asoundorvid
6、eosignalortransduceroutput)involved.Adigitalfilterusesadigitalprocessortoperformnumericalcalculationsonsampledvaluesofthesignal.Theprocessormaybeageneral-purposecomputersuchasaPC,oraspecialisedDSP(DigitalSignalProcessor)chip.Theanaloginputsignalmustfirstbesampledanddigitisedusi
7、nganADC(analogtodigitalconverter).Theresultingbinarynumbers,representingsuccessivesampledvaluesoftheinputsignal,aretransferredtotheprocessor,whichcarriesoutnumericalcalculationsonthem.Thesecalculationstypicallyinvolvemultiplyingtheinputvaluesbyconstantsandaddingtheproductstoget
