4、10AcceptedforPublicationOctober4,2010Thetransmissionline(TL)subsystemassociatedwiththeITERelectroncyclotronheatingandcurrentdrivesystemhasreachedtheconceptualdesignmaturity.AtthisstagetheresponsibilityoffinalizingthedesignhasbeentransferredfromtheITEROrganizationtothe
5、U.S.DomesticAgency.ThepurposeoftheTListotransmitthemicrowavesgeneratedbythe170-GHzgyrotronsinstalledintheradio-frequencybuildingtothelauncherslocatedinoneequatorialandfouruppertokamakports.EachTLconsistsofevacuatedHE11waveguides,directcurrentbreaks,powermonitors,mitre
6、bends,polarizers,switches,loads,andpumpingsectionsandwillhaveatypicallengththatrangesfrom100to160m.Overalltransmissionefficiencycouldbeashighas92%dependingonthespecificpathbetweenagivengyrotronandlauncher.Allcomponentsarerequiredtobe2-MWcompatible,andtheirlayoutandor
7、ganizationhavebeenoptimizedforsimplifyingthemaintenanceaccessibilityandmonitoringtheprimarytritiumbarrierintegrity.TwodifferentTLlayoutsareatthemomentunderstudy,toaccommodatethetwoalternativeoptionsfortheEuropeansources:four2-MWunitsoreight1-MWunits.Inthispapertheactu
