4、atersuppliesamajorportionoftheirrigationdemand.ThisstudyassessedtheproblemsassociatedwithutilizationandmanagementofwastewaterinKurunegalacity.Severalstudieshavebeenconductedtoidentifywastewaterutilizationandmanagementrelatedissuessuchashealth,sanitationandhygieneandwaterquality.Poor
5、lymanagedwastewaterhascreatedmanyhealthproblemssuchashighincidencesoffilariasisanddenguefever,skindefects,andbadodour.Noneavailabilityofadequatewatersupplyandsanitaryfacilitiesforlowincomecommunitieshascreatedverypoorsanitaryconditions,furtherpollutionofthedrainsanddiseasespreading.
6、Lackofinterestandsupportamongtheauthorityandthecommunityoninfrastructureandfacilitiesdevelopmentforthesecommunitiesisamajorconcerninwastewatermanagement.Thisisaggravatedbypoorknowledgeandattitudesandpoorresourcemanagementandresourcescarcityamongthecommunities.Farmersarenotawareonirr
7、igationwaterqualityandtheydidnotconsideritasacriticalhealthandhygienicissueuntiltheengagementofWASPAproject.Solidwastesthatblocktheanicutandwaterdiversionstructuresaredumpedintocanalsandcanalsidessincethereisnomonitoringorpenaltyenforcementbyrelevantauthoritieseventhoughtherearemany
