2、sionofthemiddletolatesixtiesengenderingacrisisandretrenchmentintheearlytomiddleseventies.Thetransformationwasevidentinanumberofeventsandpseudo-events:studentrevoltsinParisandelsewhere,theFrenchleft'sflirtationwithMaoismandothermilitancies,theoilcrisisof1973and1974,apainfulrenovationintheecon
3、omicbaseofdevelopedsocietiescoincidingwiththeriseofinformationnetworks,andtheconcomitantchangesintheroleoftheindividualinsociety.GuyDebordneverrecoveredfromthecrisisofthe1970s.Hislatelifewasbesetbychronicillnessbroughtonbyanevergrowinggluttonyinfoodanddrink.Hedesertedthecapitalcityandgrewmor
4、eintrospectiveinhiswork,mixingmanifestowithmemoir.ByMarch8,1978,Debord'sformergloryasaradicalfilmmakerandauthorhadfaded.'Thecinemaseemstometobeover’,hewroteinaletter.'Thesetimesdon'tdeserveafilmmakerlikeme'(2005:451).Thesetimesweretimesofcrisis.OnMarch16,1978-eightdaysafterDebord'sdalliancea
5、boutthecinemabeing'over'-theworldawoketoadramaticturnofevents.Thelong-timePrimeMinisterofItaly,ChristianDemocratAldoMoro,hadbeenkidnappedduringabrazeninterventionbythefarleftcommunistmilitantgrouptheRedBrigades.InItalytheprogressivemilitancyofthesixtieshadmetastasizedduringthefollowingdecade
6、intoanactuallyexistinglow-levelguerrillawar.Morowasheldfor54days.Duringthehostageperiod,MoroappealedtotheChristianDemocratstoacquiesceandnegotiatewithwhatboththenewspapersandgovernmentofficialsalikecalledterrorists,thatnewlyevolvedformofpoliticalactorsocloselyassociatedwiththelate-modernperi
