3、fusersandmicronozzlesusingelectricalnetworkmodelling.Theimportantparameterthatisofconcernistheflowratesofthesedevices.ThepurposeofthisworkistocontributetothephysicalcomponentofourinteractiveVirtualReality(VR)-prototypingtoolforMEMS,withemphasisonfastcalculationsforinteractiveCADdesign.Currentcalcu
4、lationsaretootimeconsumingandnotsuitableforinteractiveCADwithdynamicanimations.ThisworkcontributestoandfillstheneedforthedevelopmentofMEMSdynamicvisualisation,showingthemovementoffluidwithinmicrodevicesintimescale.MicrofluidicMEMSdevicesareusedinawiderangeofapplications,suchasinchemicalanalysis,ge
5、neexpressionanalysis,electroniccoolingsystemandinkjetprinters.Theirsuccessliesintheirmicrodimensions,enablingthecreationofsystemsthatareconsiderablyminuteyetcancontainmanycomplexsubsystems.Withthisreductioninsize,theadvantagesofrequiringlessmaterialforanalysis,lesspowerconsumption,lesswastageandan
6、increaseinportabilitybecomestheirsellingpoint.MarketsizeisinexcessofUS$50billionin2004,accordingtoastudymadebyNexus.Newapplicationsareconstantlybeingdevelopedleadingtocreationofnewdevices,suchastheDNAandtheproteinchip.Applicationsarefoundinpharmaceuticals,diagnostic,biotechnologyandthefoodindustry
