3、ndingonthemembranetype,materialsinthefeedandprocessconditionsthemembranewillloseitsperformanceduringtime.Foulingisthemostimportantproblemassociatedwiththeapplicationofmembranes.Astrategyformembraneregenerationischemicalcleaningofthefouledmembranes.Oneofthemajorapplicationso

4、freverseosmosismembranesisprocessingofwaterfromdifferentresourcesorforvariousapplications.Thisincludesseawaterdesalinationorionremovalformakeupwaterforboilers.Inallcasesfoulingrestrictsmembraneperformance.Inthisworkreverseosmosismembraneswerefouledwithwater.Chemicalcleaning

5、oftheROmembranesusingacid,alkaline,surfactantanddetergentsolutionshasbeendiscussed.Cleaningefficiencydependsonthetypeofthecleaningagentanditsconcentration.Ithasbeenshownthattheefficiencyincreaseswithincreasingtheconcentrationofthecleaningagent.Theconcentrationthatprovidesth

6、ehighestcleaningefficiencycanbeconsideredastheoptimumconcentration.Thisdependsonthetypeofthecleaningagent.Operatingconditionssuchascrossflowvelocity,turbulenceinthevicinityofthemembranesurface,temperature,pHandcleaningtimealsoplayaroleinthecleaningprocess.Optimummembranecle
