3、owthelifestyleandbehaviorpatterndirectly,butithasinherentfeatureofculture.Ifthesefeaturesaren’tconsideredinthedesignprocess,theproductcannotsatisfyusers.Hence,notonlyphysicalelements(form,color,materialandstructure)butimmaterialelements(value,custom,lifestyleandviewofarts)s
4、houldbeconsideredindesignprocess.Itcanproduceresultthatfitstoeveryculturalpatternandsituation.Anditcanleadtocreateuser-centereddesignthatisthecompetitivepoweroffurniture.EuropeanfurnituredesignersborrowheavilyfromtraditionalAsianstyleandculture.Thistrendisacceleratinginthen
5、ewmillennium.ThefusionofAsianphilosophywiththe“rationalist”designapproachofthewestisafertilearenafororiginaldesign.Butveryoften,those“Asian”stylesincorporatedintowesternfurniturearenotculturallyspecificandveryoften,this“assimilation”ignoresthebroaderanddeeperoriginsofaparti
6、cularstyle.Thisiswhythereisapressingneedforcomparativeandculturallyorienteddesignstudies.WeneedtobetterexploreanddifferentiatevariousAsiandesignapproachesandbetterunderstandthecultural/lifestylepreceptsfromwhichtheyarose.TheobjectandscopeofthisstudyisKoreanandJapanesefurnit
7、urethathavecommonfeatureofsittinglifestyle.Thestudyplanstosearchthedifferencesoffloorstructure,ondolandtatami,andbackgroundofitsownlifestyle.AlsothisstudyanalyzesthedifferencesbetweenKoreanandJapanesefurniturelayout,structureandfunctioninhouseinteriorthroughthedifferencesof
