4、,thereisatrade-offbetweenthebeam-onmadetimeandthetreatmentplanquality.Theaimofthisstudyistoincorporatethebeam-ontimeintothetreatmentisplanoptimizationstageusingadirectapertureoptimizationapproachthatallowsforexplicitlyquantifyingthetrade-off.Theproposedapproachcanprovideclinic
5、ianswithvaluableinformationforeachpatientcasesothattheycandesignclinicallyattractiveyetefficienttreatmentplans.Usingthespecialstructureofthewhichquestionsproblem,weproposeanexactsolutionapproachthatsequentiallycharacterizessegmentsofthePareto-efficientyfrontier.Inaddition,anappr
6、oximatesolutiontechniquethatisapplicabletomoreclassesofevaluationcriteriaisandeveloped.Ourapproximatetechniqueistestedonclinicalcancercases,anditsperformanceiscomparedwiththegeneralapproximationtechniquesthatareavailableforconvexbicriteriaoptimizationproblems.Theresultsersion,
