4、ronmentalliteracy.Speechsubject:Biomassutilization:bio-oilupgradingandbiocharforcapacitativedeionizationAbstract:Bio-oilandbiocharareproducedthroughbiomasspyrolysisofwoodwaste.Overthepast13years,Ellishasworkedonupgradingbio-oilthroughmixingwithbiodiesel.Theresultingfuelhasbeentestedinasingle

5、cylinderengine,highlightingtheadvantagesandchallengesofthistypeofbiofuel.Biocharhasbeendevelopedas:catalystsforesterificationandtransesterificaitonreactions;newmaterialforelectrodesforelectricdoublelayerapplication,i.e.,capacitivedeionization;andengineeredfertilizers.Gasificationofbiomassall
