3、efreeorreducedlunch.Thereisaformalapplicationandinterviewprocess,andoncechosen,thestudentswillspendatleasttwoafternoonsaweekinthelabworkingwithdifferentcomputereditingsoftwareandlearningfromexpertsinthefield,manyofwhomvolunteertheirtime.Teachersalsohelpthestudentswithcollegeapplications,financialaid
4、,andSAT/ACTprep(预科班).AccordingtoHansen,sincetheirfirstgraduatingclassin2011,everyNYCSALTstudenthasbeenacceptedtocollege.“SALTnotonlyhelpedmetobeabetterphotographer,butitalsohelpedmetobeabetterperson,”saidMalikSidibe.Intheprogram,studentsareencouragedtochallengethemselvesthroughavarietyofprojectswher
5、etheytakeabstractphotographs,portraitsandcityscapes.Perhapsthemostmeaningfulpartisthatit’snotjustaclasstothesestudents;it’smuchmorethanthat.“SALTisafamily,”saysSidibe.“Everybodycaresabouteachother.”EveryoneatSALTlearnsphotographyandstorytellingskills,butit’sclearthatthisprogramhasdonemuchmoretohelpt
