4、ithsandU-PbagesofzirconsintheXinyangperidotiticxenolithsarealsoreported.Basedonthesedata,wediscussthethinningmechanismofthelithosphereduringMesozoic-CenozoictimesbeneaththeeasternNorthChinaCraton.Insituanalysishasanadvantagesoverthewhole2rockanalysisinreveali
5、ngdeepproces2sesoflithosphereindetail,andofexploringthepossibleexistenceofthermaleventsintheMesoproterozoic(114Ga)andintheNeoproterozoic(017-018Ga)beneaththedeep2seatedlithosphereoftheNorthChinaCraton.Thecoexistenceofdifferenttypesoflithosphericmantle,includi
6、ngrefractory,transitionalandfertile,cannotbewellinterpretedbythemechanismoflithosphericdelamination.Simplemelt2peridotiteinteractionisalsodifficulttointerpretthelithosphericthinningprocessesintheMesozoicandCenozoic.Thus,complexprocessessuchasextension,melt2ro
7、ckinteraction,asthenosphericerosionandmantlereplacementmusthavebeeninvolvedduringthelithosphericthinning.Theseprocessesmaybesummarisedasfollows:(1)northwardsubductionandsubsequentcollisionoftheYangtzeCratonintheearlyMesozoic,resultedintheNorthChinalithospheri
