3、hetermincludesthetraditionalsurveyingdefinitionalongwith(and)surveyingsteadilyincreasedimportancewiththedevelopmentofnewtechnologiesandthegrowingdemandforavarietyofspatiallyrelatedtypesofinformation,particularlyinmeasuringandmonitoringourenvironment.Increa

4、singlycriticalareareasofexpandingpopulations,appreciatinglandvalues,dwindlingnaturalresources,andcontinuingstressingofthequalityofourland,waterandairfromhumanactivities.Assuch,geomaticsbridgeswidearcsfromthegeosciencesthroughvariousengineeringsciencesandco

5、mputersciencestospatialplanning,landdevelopmentandtheenvironmentalsciences.NowthewordgeomaticshasbeenadoptedbyseveralinternationalbodiesincludingtheInternationalStandardOrganization(ISO),soitisheretostay.Theterm“surveyor”istraditionallyusedtocollectivelyde

6、scribethoseengagedintheaboveactivities.MoreexplicitjobdescriptionssuchasLandSurveyor,EngineeringsurveyororHydrographicsurveyorforexample,arecommonlyusedbypractitionerstomoreclearlydescribeandmarkettheirspecializedexpertise.Thetermgeomaticsisarecentcreation

7、toconveythetruecollectiveandscientificnatureoftheserelatedactivitiesandhastheflexibilitytoallowfortheincorporationoffuturetechnologicaldevelopmentsinthesefields.Adoptionofthetermalsoallowsacoherentmarketingoftheprofessiontoindustryandschoolsonaworldwidebas
